Hi I’m Susan Hope.
I’m a Chartered Financial Planner, speaker and financial services professional with more than 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry, specialising in pensions and retirement and women’s financial futures.
This is hugely personal for me. I have women I love who are still working into their 70s. I have a 20 year old daughter just starting her own financial journey, stepping into a world where the gender pension gap is unknown to her but very real.
Then there’s me, right here in the middle, 52, married, divorced, married and divorced again. I’ve raised a daughter, built a career, started over more than once and made some financial decisions I’m proud of, alongside a few I’d make very differently now. Life has taught me something that no number of spreadsheets will ever show and that’s the effect of real women’s working patterns and lives on their retirement fund.
Women’s lives rarely happen in straight lines, we take career breaks, we care for people, we work part time, we divorce, we start again. We put other people first and somewhere in amongst all of that, we’re supposed to be building enough money for a future version of ourselves that we barely even have time to think about.
That’s why I care so much about this. I want women to understand what’s happening to their money, understand the impact of decisions made at key life moments to feel more confident about the future they’re building.
No judgement. No jargon.
